Oedipus was a tragic hero in Greek mythology a king condemned to a fate severe, because he unknowingly killed his father and married his mother. His story is the story of a person because he did not know his true identity, has followed the wrong path in life. When he set foot on this path, his best qualities do not save the results of actions that have violated the laws of gods and humans. Oedipus represents two enduring themes of Greek mythology and drama: the imperfect nature of humanity and powerlessness of the individual against the course of destiny in a world hard.
